Contemporary vocal coaching

I work together with artists to create a personal voice "toolbox" that teaches them techniques, supports their vocal freedom and guides them as they achieve their individual targeted goals.

/ 01 — BREATH CONTROL & VOICE DEVELOPMENT

A personal voice toolbox

Control of the sub-glottal and supra-glottal air pressure — the foundation that supports every technique in the toolbox.

Mixed voice — finding the right balance between control and power through your range
Safe belting
Stamina increase
Resonance
Optimisation of vocal folds closure
Thyroid tilt (cry)
Tongue control
Soft palate control — oral vs. nasalised sound
False vocal folds control — release pressure on your vocal folds
Voice development through SOVT exercises — tubes, straws & more
/ 02 — VOCAL HEALTH

Often overlooked, easily implemented

Vocal health is often overlooked but can be easily implemented with the right knowledge about your particular voice, how best to hydrate your vocal folds, and adopting a good warm-up routine that is tailored to you.

/ 03 — SOVT METHOD

Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract exercises

I employ SOVT exercises in my coaching, which go far beyond voice development by assisting with defining the best and healthiest movements for my clients when performing and singing. This results in the release of tension on the vocal folds and develops stamina.

/ 04 — LIVE SHOWS & PERFORMANCE ANXIETY

The instrument lives within the body

Singers are performers whose instrument resides within their body. I take into consideration the psychological and emotional characteristics of singing when developing a voice. My goal is to prepare artists to approach live performance with the correct mindset, working in conjunction with technique and body language so that their vocal performance is fully optimised.

/ 05 — BODY AWARENESS & ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

Every voice is unique

I like to incorporate Alexander Technique exercises in my mentoring — by working on body awareness we ultimately develop vocal performance. And every voice is unique: my aspiration is to support singers in finding their voice while retaining the individualism and distinctive essence of their artistry.

"As singing is a process that goes beyond the voice, I consider my clients' mind, body, and spirit as I guide them through any performance anxieties, removing tension and developing live techniques."
Background

About Me

I am a French-American voice teacher based in London, UK. I started my career as a singer, guitarist and writer before forming the alternative rock band Reckless Jacks. Over a span of a decade, we worked with accomplished producers like Jim Lowe (Stereophonics), Julian Kindred (Ellie Goulding) and Bob Matthews (Alpines), had TV appearances, and performed over 80 shows in the UK and across Europe. I recognise the effort and obstacles faced when attempting to connect with our voices.

As a voice teacher and vocal coach, I strive to keep myself up to date with new studies and research. I participated in a group research project with the Department of Speech, Voice & Swallowing at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, and organised a seminar for voice teachers with SOVT specialist Marci Rosenberg. As a teenager I competed in sports like tennis — it taught me the importance of having the proper mindset when performing, and I make this the centre of my sessions.
